He is co-founder and coordinator of Agricultural Automation Laboratory, a research group at Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo, where since 1989 he has been working on the application of information technology to agriculture and, since 1999 also to the environment. His research interests involve instrumentation and information systems. President-elect of the Brazilian Society of Informatics in Agriculture, SBIAgro, for 2004-2006.
