REINALDO SILVEIRA
Reinaldo Bomfim da Silveira is a Meteorologist and he pursed his
Bachelor and MSc degree at University of São Paulo, on 1989 and 1993
respectively. In 1999, he got his PhD in Applied Mathematics at
University of Essex, UK. Since then he has been at the Instituto
Nacional de Meteorologia, as a leader of the Numerical Weather
Prediction project. His past experiences include 14 years at the
Brazilian Air Force with duties on Aeronautic Meteorology and weather
radar activities at the Fundação Cearense de Meteorologia e Recursos Hídricos. Currently he is serving as a focal point of the World
Meteorological Organization's commission on Instruments and
Observations. He was also recently nominated by the Brazilian Foreign
Relations Ministry as Co-chair of the Subgroup on Data Utilization of
the international ad-hoc Group on Earth Observation for the preparation
of the Global Earth Observation System of Systems. He has been an active
researcher in Meteorology and his interests include numerical weather
prediction, data analysis, statistical Meteorology and weather
radars.
