PhD in Production Ecology and Resource Conservation from Wageningen University, Netherlands. Head of the Geographic Information Systems Unit and Bioinformatics Unit, International Potato Center, Peru (1994-2002). Associate Specialist at the Museum of Vertebrate Zoology, UC Berkeley, USA (2002-).
Research interests include spatial modeling for decision making in agriculture and biodiversity conservation. Developed spatial databases of crop distribution, species distribution and climate; and software for spatial analysis of biodiversity data (DIVA-GIS: http://www.diva-gis.org).
