INTER-AMERICAN WORKSHOP ON ENVIRONMENTAL DATA ACCESS

Mauro E. S. Muñoz Computer Engineering degree from the State University of Campinas - UNICAMP, (1996). M.Sc in Artificial Inteligence from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul - UFRGS, (1999). After 1999 he worked for 2 years in telecommunication, smart card and telephone voice portals. Since 2002 he works at CRIA (www.cria.org.br) as a software developer in biodiversity informatics. At CRIA he works at the following projects: SICOL - an information system for biological resource centers of biotechnology interest (http://sicol.cria.org.br). speciesLink - a distributed information system for biological collections (http://splink.cria.org.br). openModeller - a framework for biological/environmental modelling (http://openmodeller.cria.org.br). DiGIR - a Distributed Generic Information Retrieval protocol and applications (http://digir.net). His areas of interests include static and dynamic species modelling, artificial neural networks, celular automata, genetic algorithms and geographical information systems.
