BONNIE C. CARROLL
Ms. Carroll is President and CEO of Information International
Associates, Inc. (IIa), an information resource management company whose
mission is to support government and industry in managing information as
a strategic resource. She is currently a consultant to USGS, supporting
the development of the National Biological Information Infrastructure
and the White House Science Office's Biodiversity Informatics Working
Group to promote interagency coordination of national and international
biodiversity informatics initiatives. As the Secretariat Director of
CENDI Federal Information Managers Group, an interagency cooperative
effort of the STI managers of ten major science and engineering
agencies.
Before going into private business, Ms. Carroll worked at the Department
of Energy's Office of Scientific and Technical Information as Director
of Program Development and International Activities and Deputy and
Acting Assistant Manager for Information Services. She spent seven
years at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory as Information Center
Coordinator, Staff of Program Planning and Analysis, and as Information
Specialist and Librarian.
Ms. Carroll is a member of the US National Committee for CODATA and the
US representative to International CODATA. She is a past President of
the American Society for Information Science (ASIS) and was the 1988
recipient of the ASIS Watson Davis Service Award. In 2004, Ms. Carroll
was awarded a Federal Computer Week Federal 100 Award for outstanding
contributions to US Federal IT for her national policy and coordination
work. She was the 1993-94 Chairperson of the American Association for
the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Section on Information, Computing and
Communications. She has lectured and published widely on the value of
information, information policy and management, and information analysis
centers.
Ms. Carroll has a Master of Science degree from Columbia University and
a Bachelor's degree from Cornell University.
