CODATA Workshop Biography

Steve Rossouw

Steve Rossouw has spent the greater part of his professional life either in academia (Universities of Stellenbosch, Western Cape and Cape Peninsula University of Technology (current position, part time), or in research organizations (Atomic Energy Board and Medical Research Council).

In his 'other life' he has been quite active in ICSTI (1976-1992) and CODATA from 1990 to the present day. He has been Chair of the South African National Committee for CODATA since 1992, has served on a number of Task Groups and CODATA committees, has been a member of the Executive Board (1998-2004), and been elected as CODATA Vice-President for the 2006-2010 period.

As far as the theme of the present workshop is concerned, Steve was co-chair of the WG on Archiving of Scientific Data with a workshop in Pretoria (2002), a member of the current TG on Preservation and Archiving of Scientific Data in DCs, as well as a member of the newly approved TG on Data for Sustainable Development in SADC Countries.
