Strategies for Open and Permanent Access to Scientific Information in Latin America: Focus on Health and Environmental Information for Sustainable Development

Accelerating Scientific Research Cycles through an Information Commons, John Wilbanks

Abstract:

One promise of the commons approach to scientific information is the acceleration of research through faster, more efficient knowledge distrubution and re-use. This talk will focus on a holistic approach to moving knowledge through the classic scientific research cycle using commons-based methodologies, with a particular focus on implementations in neuroscience. This talk will also lay out a potential cooperative activity based on open-source knowledge management software and content platforms for life sciences research.
