Strategies for Open and Permanent Access to Scientific Information in Latin America: Focus on Health and Environmental Information for Sustainable Development
The Virtual Incubator of Digital Contents of the Tidia
Program of FAPESP, Imre Simon
The Incubator aims to promote and facilitate the cooperative
development of open digital content of academic,
technological, or social relevance. It provides, through the
Internet, a widely available computational infrastructure that
allows user communities to focus on quality content production
instead of system maintenance.
The Incubator is in operation since August, 2004 at the URL
http://incubadora.fapesp.br and it has 400 projects and 11
tousand
users, as of April, 2007. The document at
http://iv.incubadora.fapesp.br/portal/wp
describes (in English) the basic principles and
characteristics of the Incubator.
